On the Road with Roada
Welcome back to another Issue, my avid readers!
Well, is it just me or did this summer just fly by? With all the little ones back at school the parks and campgrounds just don’t seem the same. Madge and I so enjoy the sound of children’s laughter on a summer’s eve.
It’s decision time for us and it is a very difficult one we have to make. It is usually our habit, once the autumn arrives, to join the flock of Snowbirds flying south for the winter. Now, Madge and I are made of quite stern stuff, having survived the worst of Canadian weather for many years, and we find the climate here on the beautiful Island very tame after Quebec and Alberta. So, our very tough choice is, do we hit the highway heading South or park up and settle in on the Idyllic Island for the duration? We have been exploring our options and have settled on a wonderful choice for a winter home, should we choose to stay.
The Surfside RV Resort, is a spectacular oceanfront RV membership resort with clubhouse, pool and spa. Members enjoy the security and privacy of a gated community surrounded by natural beauty within walking distance to Parksville’s commercial centre, restaurants as well as a wide variety of leisure activities. It is one of only 16 Canadian RV resorts listed in the North American Edition of the 2007 Woodall’s Campground Directory to attain both a 5-star facilities and 5-star recreation rating for the past 13 years.
Some of the features that Madge and I are particularly impressed with are the large RV sites, averaging 2,300 sq.ft. as well as the fabulous oceanfront clubhouse. The weather might turn a smidge less welcoming in the winter but a warm and cozy clubhouse, full of cheery RV’ers enjoying life, more than makes up for a little rain! We are also pleased to note that they offer full underground services and phone and cable availability.
The winter rates (September 16th, 2007 to May 14th, 2008) start as low as $600 monthly (plus hydro), excluding taxes. All sites are fully serviced and they ask that all RV’s have full hook-up. Of course rates and availability are always subject to change so, if you think you might like to experience this lovely spot for yourselves, I’d suggest you give them a bell on 1-866-642-2001 or (250)248-9713 to enquire.
So, you can appreciate our dilemma? I invite you to pick up the early Spring Guide to see how this all turned out. I know, how will you last ‘til then? The anticipation and curiosity will be unbearable. We wish we could give you a preview but, we’re off to make our booking at . . .
See you next year!
